Wales home of rolling hills, vast mountains and myself.
I was born on a farm on the outskirts of a small welsh village. We farmed sheep, and therefore I was always surrounded by our farm collies, they did a fantastic job for us, and were valued members of or work force. From an early age I would go with my father, up the hills, to collect the sheep. The collies would work tirelessly finding all the sheep and their lambs; I would watch them work for hours! From there my love of dogs grew and grew, I would take every opportunity to meet, play and walk other dogs.
My father died when I was only 8 years old, it left my mother broken hearted and all but bankrupt! It was then that we really got to know our neighbours, they to were farmers, but of a different kind. They heard of my mothers hard times, and came to visit one day, over tea they told her that they had gone into “dog” farming, and told her there was a high demand, and money to be made. We valued our dogs, they saved us time and energy, and my mother couldn’t imagine such a loyal animal being “farmed” and said she was not interested, but me, I couldn’t imagine anything better than LOTS of dogs and puppies, I was curious so asked to visit.
As I grew up my interest in dogs gave me a real incite into dog breeders or puppy farmers as well as the pounds here in
So that brings us to now, I feel that more should be done to right the wrongs of this industry, sadly I can not do this directly as my job is too demanding, but hopefully by me posting about some of the issues I know of, somebody out there will be able to fight this for me!
I will have to do this anonymously, as I still know and see a lot of the people I will write about.
